A former local man was shot and killed over the weekend in Florida.
Police in Manatee County say a 67-year-old man was found dead in a front yard of a Bradenton home last Saturday afternoon. Although they did not release his identity, friends on social media confirmed the death of former Butler resident Karl Goettler.
According to police, Goettler’s wife and daughter were inside the home when they heard gunshots coming from the driveway. When they went outside, they found the daughter’s boyfriend 29-year-old Charles Shadrach, was holding a shotgun.
He soon walked down the street and surrendered to police.
Police say there was a series of arguments that had taken place between Goettler, his daughter, and Shadrach who were all living at the same place.
Shadrach is charged with second degree murder.
