The 2022 NFL season begins tonight when the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams host the Buffalo Bills for an 8:20pm kick-off. The game will be televised on NBC, WPXI locally.
The Bills are favored by 2-1/2 points, but the Rams are 5-0 in season openers under head coach Sean McVay. Former Pitt defensive lineman Aaron Donald, of the Rams, needs two sacks to reach 100 in his career. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford needs five yards passing to top 50,000 for his career. He will become the 12th player in the NFL to reach that mark.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have restructured linebacker TJ Watt’s contract prior to their season opener this weekend. The move will free up nearly $7 million in salary cap space for the team. Watt signed a four-year $112 million contract last year. At that time, the $28 million per year contract made him the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL.
The Steelers visit the Cincinnati Bengals for a 1pm kick-off Sunday. Hear the game on WISR.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders has announced his retirement from the NFL. Sanders spent 12 seasons in the league and went to three Super Bowls. He helped the Denver Broncos win Super Bowl 50.
