The Pittsburgh Steelers host the New England Patriots for the home opener Sunday at Acrisure Stadium. Kick-off is 1pm. WISR will join the pre-game following the Noon News.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed linebacker T.J. Watt on injured reserve, meaning he will miss at least four games as he recovers from a muscle injury.
Running back Najee Harris was a full participant in practice Thursday.
Thursday Night Football;
–Kansas City defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 27-24. Patrick Mahomes threw two touchdown passes, but rookie defensive back Jaylen Watson returned an interception of Justin Herbert 99 yards for the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs are off to a 2-0 start. The Chargers fell to 1-1.
NASCAR will race at Bristol Motor Speedway Saturday night. Hear coverage on WBUT beginning at 6:30pm. Four drivers will be eliminated from the playoff field following the race.
College Football Saturday:
–Slippery Rock will travel to Millersville for a Noon kick-off. The Coach Shawn Lutz Show begins at 11:30am on The Rock Station 97.7fm.
–Penn State will travel to Auburn for a non-conference match-up. Kick-off is 3:30pm.
–Pitt is on the road to Western Michigan. Kick-off is 7:30pm.
High School Football On-the-Air tonight:
–Butler travels to Hollidaysburg for a 7pm kick-off. Pre-game on WBUT begins at 6:45pm.
–Knoch is on the road to face Southmoreland. Kick-off is 7pm. WISR pre-game begins at 6:30pm.
The Mars Area Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner will take place Saturday beginning at 5pm at the Mars Middle School. Nine student/athletes and one coach will be honored. The honorees will also be recognized tonight at halftime during the Mars – Indiana football game.
