The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-3 last night to complete a three-game road trip sweep. It was also the first time the Penguins have won a game in Chicago since 2009.
Penguins center Evgeni Malkin played in his 1,000th career game, second-most only to Sidney Crosby all-time.
After defeating Minnesota to begin their road trip, the Pens shutout Winnipeg 3-0 Saturday night behind a 32 save performance by goaltender Tristan Jarry. The game was scoreless until the opening of the third period when Jason Zucker scored less than a minute in. Bryan Ryst scored the Pens second goal with 90 seconds remaining in the game. Jake Guentzel scored an empty-net goal with four seconds remaining. The Penguins return home to host Calgary Wednesday.
Former Penguin Phil Kessel skated in his 1,000th consecutive game Saturday night when Vegas defeated Arizona 4-1.
