The battle over power in the state House of Representatives continues this week in Harrisburg.
After Democratic Leader Joanna McClintock was sworn-in as House Majority Leader last week, the top House Republican Bryan Cutler took his own action this week.
“I was sworn-in as the Republican leader; it is the math that makes me the majority leader at 101 to 99, in light of the resignations and untimely death of our friend Rep. DeLuca,” Cutler said. “That is why the Democrats are currently down three seats. So it is the math that would make us the majority.”
McClintock argues that Democrats won 102 seats, meaning she should become leader. Cutler has filed a lawsuit challenging McClintock’s authority to schedule special elections.
The next legislative session begins January 3rd.
