The new owner of the Penn Theater is outlining his plans for the facility.
Bryan Frenchak, a Butler native who became a real estate developer in Houston, Texas, purchased the Penn Theater earlier this year. He envisions it serving as a multi-purpose venue in downtown.
“We could potentially have a variety of different types of venues. So it would be a combination of a couple weekends of the month would be concerts or comedy acts,” Frenchak said. “And then we’ll have things during the days for business.”
Frenchak and his wife Maria bought a home in the Butler a year ago. While they split time between here and Texas, Maria was intrigued by the Penn Theater. She saw an opportunity to bring an entertainment venue to Butler.
“Each time we wanted to go listen to music, have an inspirational speech, or a different type of restaurant we had to travel to a different town. I thought why aren’t others traveling to Butler?”
Frenchak says they have made repairs to the ceiling and will soon turn the gas on. He plans to have design work done and hopes to begin construction this winter.
