Free tax preparation is now available for those who are eligible.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program officially kicked off Wednesday. Both the United Way and Center for Community Resources help offer the service to families and individuals who are at low to moderate income levels.
The annual program finds local volunteers to help other residents file their income taxes. Each volunteer is IRS-certified.
The free tax preparation services are available through April 17th. You can learn more by call 2-1-1. There’s also more information available online.
