A celebration of the New Year on the planet Mars is planned for later this week for the borough of Mars.
A “Blast-Off Dinner” fundraiser will kick off the celebrations on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Steamfitters Event Center in Harmony.
A former NASA scientist will give a talk and the Martian of the Year will be announced. The Mars New Year Celebration is a collaboration with Mars Borough and NASA divisions from across the country, inspired by exploration, innovation and celebration.
Tickets for this event are sold out. The festival coincides with the planet Mars’ New Year, which occurs every 687 days.
