While Butler County Commissioners weigh ideas to allow more access to the Jade’s Dog Park in Alameda, it will remain closed for the rest of the winter. Commissioner Leslie Osche says one of the issues they face is because the dog park is on a hill and the road is not maintained in the winter.
“It creates a challenge in the winter months, because it’s not accessible via roads. So if the dog park remains open but the gate is closed, you’re creating an ADA issue because you can’t access the park,” Osche said. “Either everything has to be closed or everything has to be open.”
Osche also said the park board is exploring a long-term solution. “Clearly we would like the dog park to be open year round. And we have a a couple of options on the table like a second location or an adjustment to the parking lot and gates.”
Osche did note that the rest of the park does remain open to the public, but the road gates are closed until April 1st.
