Gas prices have continued their slow decline both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by a penny over the past week to land at $3.73 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole sank by three cents during that same time to reach $3.77. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Washington at $3.65, while the most expensive is $3.87 in Mercer.
The average national gas price fell by a nickel over the past week to reach $3.36 which is 14 cents less per gallon than a month ago and 24 cents less than one year ago.
Demand for gas increased slightly but the cost of oil decreased as a result of the strengthening dollar and an increase in domestic oil inventories.
