The Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team’s season came to an end Monday night following a 76-73 loss on the road at Pitt-Johnstown in the opening round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament. The last eight games between the two teams have been decided by an average of 3.3 points. The two teams split their regular season series this year, with each team winning on their home courts. The Rock ends their season at 17-12 overall. The Mountain Cats improve to 20-9 and advance into the Quarterfinals Wednesday against Mercyhurst.
The Pitt men’s basketball team have cracked the college men’s basketball Associated Press Top-25 poll for the first time since the 2016 season, when they were led by coach Jamie Dixon. The Panthers were voted at number 25 this week. Winners of eight of their past nine games, Pitt will visit Notre Dame tomorrow night.
