George William Kepple, 95, of Butler, passed away on February 26, 2023, at Newhaven Court at Clearview in Butler, Pa.
George was born on October 28, 1927, to Charles and Vernie Kepple in Frogtown, Pa. He graduated from Karns City High School in 1945. After high school he served in the Army at Camp Carson in Colorado. He married Edyce LaRue Thompson on September 30, 1950, and they remained married for almost 69 years until her death in 2019. George was a bowler, a golfer, a fisherman, a hunter, and softball player during his early years. He was a handyman with cars, household repairs, and even taught himself to build an addition to his house by borrowing books from the library.
George is survived by his son, Gary (Mary Jo) Kepple of Dayton, OH; his daughters Terri (Louis) Grenci of Butler and Jeanne (James) Read of Frederick, MD. He had four grandchildren, Correy (Jon) Belasco, Jamie (Stefani) Read, Louis “Beau” (Emily) Grenci, and Kristin Read and her fiance Nick Alioto. He had two great grandchildren, Colton and Simon Grenci. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his wife, a son (Brent), one sister (Kathleen Double), three brothers (Charles, Donald, and James), three sisters-in-law (Audrey Miller, Barbara Fair, and Joan Miller) and recently a brother-in-law, Veryl (Pete) Thompson.
He is remembered by many friends and staff of Newhaven Court at Clearview, and the staff of Amedisys. We extend our sincere thanks to them for the loving care they gave him.
