Before resigning this week, former Pennsylvania House Speaker Mark Rozzi was able to pass a new set of house rules.
Rozzi says these new rules will improve the law-making process by reducing hyper-partisanship.
“To ensure both sides have a fair chance, the minority party will have a larger presence on all standing committees. This reflects the close partisan split in the full house,” Rozzi said. “Plus, no committee chairperson will have the sole ability to stop a good bill with bipartisan support from being considered.”
Rozzi also says new rules are also on place for constitutional amendments. Proposals can only focus on one subject and will only go on the ballot in the fall.
