Avelin L. Galante, age 95, of Butler, passed away Tues. March 28, 2023, at Butler Memorial Hospital following an illness.
Born in Butler on Nov. 25, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Francesco and Luigia Bevelacqua Gaudino.
Avelin was a member of All Saints Parish, Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
She was not only a homemaker, she worked at Bobbie Brooks and at the Butler County Housing Authority until her retirement.
Her family was everything to her. She always enjoyed dinners on Sundays and holidays, where her homemade bread was the highlight of every meal.
Active in her church, she belonged to the 55 & Alive, the Rosary Makers, and the choir. She was also a longtime faithful volunteer at the parish’s dinners and festivals and a participant in the chapel adoration.
Avelin is survived by four daughters, Victoria Galante, of Butler, Michele Schidemantle and her husband, Peter, of Butler, Tina Horsman and her husband, William, of Butler, and Danielle Rossmiller and her husband, Joseph, of Butler; one daughter-in-law, Rene Ball, of Butler; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Samantha, Christopher, Michael, Matthew, Anthony, Nina, Nicholas, and Kelsey; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard B. Galante, who passed away July 11, 2010; one son, Richard B. Galante, II, who passed away Dec. 27, 2021; five brothers; and three sisters.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from All Saints Parish, Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, on Friday at 11 a.m., with Reverend Kevin C. Fazio officiating.
Burial will take place in Saint Michael’s Cemetery.
