Gas prices increased slightly locally but stayed even across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, rose by two cents to reach $3.71 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole flat-lined over the same period of time at $3.68. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $3.54, while the most expensive is $3.84 in Jeannette.
The average national gas price increased by seven cents over the past week to reach $3.50 which is 11 cents more per gallon than a month ago but 69 cents less than one year ago.
Demand for gas and the cost of oil both increased for a second week in a row with OPEC and Russia agreeing to cut their output by over a million barrels a day through the end of the year beginning next month.
