The sun set for Donald Lee Nowakowski, 82 of Butler on Thursday, April 13, 2023. He was born in Butler on July 29, 1940 to the late Adam and Mary (Bowser) Nowakowski. After Don graduated from Butler High School he started his life’s career as a union cement mason. He retired in 2000 after more than 40 years. Don had many interests, he enjoyed farming with his son, international tractors, rescuing and caring for animals, as he had numerous pets throughout the years, especially his beloved “Snacking Buddies” Keisel “King Fish” & Princess Lucy. He also loved Steelers football, and following NASCAR. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke everyone listened. He took pride in being one of the original members of the Saxonburg Saints. Above all else, he loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He was loved and will be forever missed. He was the beloved husband for more than 62 years of Mary (Pensy) Nowakowski whom he married August 27, 1960; father of Mary “Molly” (Keith) Wilbert; brother of Bob (Linda) Nowakowski, and Judy Thompson. He is also survived by his grandchildren Emily Nowakowski and Dustin (Chelsea) Bowser; great grandchildren Nataley, Ava, Ryder, and Vivienne, and his daughter in law Beth Nowakowski and a large and loving family to cherish his memory. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Don Nowakowski and an infant brother David. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 1-3 & 5-7 PM in the SPENCER D GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD. BUTLER, PA 16001, WWW.SPENCERDGEIBEL.COM. A Catholic Blessing will be held at 3 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in St. Mary R.C. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Butler County Humane Society.
