Earth Day is tomorrow and a local state park will observe the occasion with a volunteer event this weekend.
On Saturday, those interested in helping clean Moraine State Park will be meeting at the South Shore Park Office for a day of assistance.
The gathering will begin at 10 a.m. with weeding and mulching in the native plant garden in front of the park office, and will wrap up around 2 p.m. Participants of all ability levels are advised to dress for the weather as well as bring work gloves, lunch, snacks, and water.

The public is invited to celebrate our planet with a free event planned for this weekend at Slippery Rock University.
The annual SRU Earth Fest is planned for Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Macoskey Center for Sustainability Education and Research.
The day will include vendors, live music, presentations from SRU students, workshops, an electric car show, educational programs, and horseback riding.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase and raffle baskets to raise money for Macoskey Center initiatives. Parking is available at the Storm Harbor Equestrian Center.

Residents are invited to maintain green space and protect the environment at an event this weekend in Cranberry Township.
Cranberry will host the opening of a week-long celebration of Earth Week on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at North Boundary Park.
In addition to a proclamation from Township officials, this event will also include a seedling giveaway to the first 150 attendees.
