Local farmers had an opportunity to hear from the state’s Secretary of Agriculture at an event last week.
Russell Redding was in town Friday as a guest for the Farmers Breakfast at the American Legion Post 778. The breakfast was sponsored by State Representative Marci Mustello.
“It’s just giving the agriculture community an opportunity to ask questions of the secretary and ask him what’s coming up,” Mustello said. “With the new administration coming in, thank goodness that Governor Shapiro decided to keep Secretary Redding, because he is so well versed in these issues.”
After the breakfast, Butler Area School District Superintendent Dr. Brian White welcomed Mustello, Redding, State Senator Scott Hutchinson, and Butler County Commissioner Leslie Osche to Broad Street Elementary School.
There, Broad Street Principal Vanessa Boyd led a tour of the Broad Street Market, demonstration kitchen, and patio water gardens which have been made possible through state grant funding. The tour continued with agriculture efforts at Summit Township Elementary.
