The Pittsburgh Maulers appeared in line for their second straight USFL victory last night after taking a late touchdown and two-point conversion to take a 20-17 lead over the Birmingham Stallions. However, the Maulers allowed a 91-yard kick-off return for a touchdown to fall 24-20. Former Pitt kicker Chris Blewitt hit four more field goals for the Maulers. He now has nine field goals in his first two games with the team.
Former Slippery Rock University running back Wes Hills was the player of the game after leading the New Orleans Breakers to a 20-17 victory over the New Jersey Generals Sunday. Hills had a combined 159 total yards, 88 yards of that on the ground, with two touchdowns. The Breakers are now 4-0 this season.
