Gas prices continued to decrease both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by six cents to reach $3.80 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also dropped by a nickel over the same period of time to settle at $3.73. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.59, while the most expensive is here in Butler at $3.80.
The average national gas price stayed even over the past week at $3.53 which is 13 cents less per gallon than a month ago and 97 cents less than one year ago.
Demand for gas rose substantially but the cost of oil continued to drop this week over concerns about stalled debt ceiling negotiations.
