Chrysler has issued a safety recall for just over 132,000 vehicles in the United States.
The recall involves 2014 to 2016 Jeep Cherokees.
An electrical short in the power liftgate module can cause a fire. This is not affected by if the vehicle is on or off so owners should park outside and away from structures.
A fix for the issue is under development. Owners should expect additional information from Chrysler in a letter late next month.
