WPIAL Individual Track & Field Championships:
From Butler High School:
–Drew Griffith swept titles in the 1600 and 3200-meter events.
–Luke Campbell won the Long Jump.
–The 4×400 Relay team of Jacob Fallecker, Aaron Stebick, Drew “Bert” Knight and Landon Lacey won the final event on the track yesterday.
–Megan Baggetta was the runner-up in the girls Class 3A Triple Jump, breaking her own school record with a leap of 39′ 2-1/2 inches.
From Mars High School:
–Jacob Thompson won the 400-meter run,
–Evan Kurpakas won the High Jump.
From Freeport:
–Michael Brown won the 3,200 meter run in the Class 2A championships.
–Isaac Wetzel captured the 300-meter Hurdles.
–Reese Skiba won the Girls Discus.
Athletes who finished in the top three head to the State tournament next weekend.
WPIAL Baseball Playoffs:
–North Catholic-11 Elizabeth Forward-1 in the Class 4A First Round. The Trojans advance into the Quarterfinal Round against Hopewell.
–Fox Chapel-6 Mars-4 in the Class 5A First Round.
WPIAL Softball Playoffs:
–Pine-Richland defeated North Allegheny 5-1, setting up a game with Seneca Valley in the Class 6A Semifinals next Wednesday.
–Chartiers Valley defeated Knoch 10-0 in five innings.
WPIAL Boys Lacrosse Class 2A Quarterfinals:
–Mars defeated Moon 17-1.
–Hampton-9 North Catholic-3.
Mars and Hampton meet in the Semifinals Monday.
