Gas prices continued to decrease both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by four cents to reach $3.76 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also dropped by four cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.69. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in DuBois at $3.52, while the most expensive is in Beaver at $3.77.
The average national gas price increased by a penny over the past week to reach $3.54 which is 13 cents less per gallon than a month ago and $1.05 less than one year ago.
Demand for gas declined ahead of the Memorial Day holiday weekend but the cost of oil increased this week due to optimism that global energy demand is rebounding especially in China.
