Pennsylvania’s top law enforcement officer recently entered into a few settlements that will help to protect consumers.
Attorney General Michelle Henry announced a deal earlier this week with pest control company Aptive Environmental LLC for violating a 2019 settlement about solicitation practices. Aptive also allegedly failed to allow some customers to cancel contracts. This settlement will include nearly $200,000 in civil penalties for violations.
Henry also announced a settlement with AGR Group Nevada LLC and Utilities Marketing Group LLC in which those telemarketing companies will pay over $150,000 and be prohibited from making unwanted calls in the future. The companies allegedly directed a large number of repeated calls offering retail energy supply to residents registered on the Pennsylvania “Do Not Call” list.
Finally, three more companies including Ohio-based Mammoth Marketing Group LLC have settled for their role in allegedly violating the Pennsylvania “Do Not Call” law. The companies did not register as telemarketers with the state as they placed calls to people on the Do Not Call list in an attempt to sell car warranties and Medicare benefits. These settlements total more than $90,000.
Anyone on the Do Not Call list who still receives telemarketing calls should file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.
