Local organizations have been awarded state funding to help with homelessness, household modifications, and safety challenges.
The Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement Program, or PHARE, has awarded $250,000 to Butler County for the Acquisition and Rehabilitation Program.
An additional $250,000 for this program has also been awarded to the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Butler. This program purchases homes that are in foreclosure or blighted to then be rehabilitated to become rental units or demolished to create more rental housing.
Finally, $250,000 will also be received by the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler for owner occupied housing rehab. This allows for those with low to moderate income to address code deficiencies and environmental concerns to comply with federal and state regulations.
PHARE receives funding from Marcellus Shale impact fees and realty transfer taxes.
