Dorothy J. (Greenawalt) Nicklas Funkhouser, 91, of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at New Haven Court.
She was born November 6, 1931 to the late Harry L. and Bessie (Dambach) Greenawalt.
As a member of the Middlesex PCA Church for over 70 years, she served as a deacon aide, was director and taught Bible school and also served on various committees. She was a charter member of the Penn Twp Woman’s Club, having been instrumental in its founding.
Surviving are her daughters, Sharon Profota and her husband Robert of Butler, PA and Cathy Myers and her husband Warren of Albertville, AL; four grandsons, Philip Profota of Butler, David Myers of Pittsburgh, Stephen Myers of Georgia and Michael Myers of Alabama; one great grandson, Bradley; one niece, Debra Greenawalt of Butler; two nephews, Tim Greenawalt of Butler and Dr. John Nicklas of Michigan; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; and a number of cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Vernon Nicklas, who passed away in 1991, and Norris (Bud) Funkhouser in 2013; brother, Donald Greenawalt; and nephew David Greenawalt.
At Dorothy’s request, there will be no visitation. Burial in Brownsdale cemetery will be private.
