A Butler man has been charged with receiving and reselling an estimated $100,000 in stolen property after he paid a man to steal items from retailers for him.
The scheme started when 66-year-old John Zanicky of Butler would send Bradley Cramer a “shopping list” of items, then pay Cramer 30% retail value on those items. Zanicky would then resale the stolen items for profit. The plot was discovered after Cramer was arrested and housed in the Butler County Prison in September of 2020. This is where Cramer broke down the plot to the State Police.
Cramer was arrested after attempting to steal just over $1000 in merchandise from Rural King on August 15, 2020.
Zanicky was charged with receiving stolen property and conspiring with another person or persons to commit a crime.
