The Atlanta Braves defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-5 last night. Third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes broke out with three hits and drove in three. One of the hits was his seventh home run of the season. The Braves scored the game-winning run in the eighth inning. The Bucs had tied the game with a four-run fourth inning after the Braves had built a 4-0 lead with Pirates rookie starting pitcher Quinn Priester on the mound. He did not figure in the decision. Priester allowed four earned runs on nine hits over four innings.
The two teams complete their four-game series this afternoon. The game is scheduled for a 12:35pm start. WISR will join the pre-game in progress.
Michael Lorenzen threw the 14th no-hitter in Philadelphia Phillies history on Wednesday, in only his second start with his new team, which beat the Washington Nationals 7-0. Lorenzen struck out five, walked four and improved to 2-0 since he was acquired from the Detroit Tigers at the trade deadline.
