Several thousand Butler area residents were without power for a couple hours Wednesday afternoon.
A total of nearly 9,000 West Penn Power customers lost power shortly after noon including many businesses.
According to the power company’s website, nearly 5,000 Butler Township residents were affected along with nearly 2,000 in Center Township.
The Butler VA facilities also experienced the outage so they had to cancel some appointments.
The cause of the outage is thought to be a line coming out of a particular substation but is still under investigation. Power was able to be restored shortly before 2 p.m.
