The Mars Area School District plans to honor local veterans and first responders at an upcoming football game.
The “Salute to Service” will take place Friday at the Mars Athletic Complex as the Fightin’ Planets Varsity Football teams takes on the Highlands Golden Rams at 7 p.m.
All active, reserve, and veteran military members along with all first responders will receive free admission to the game and be recognized.
The Pine Richland/Mars Area US Air Force JROTC will present the colors before the game and the student section will have a camo theme with American towels.
Local residents can vote for this contest to be the Steelers High School Football Showcase Game of the Week by visiting the Steelers website. If Mars receives the most votes out of three contenders, they will be featured on the Steelers website and social media platforms as well as have game highlights included at a future Steelers home game.
