Butler County is looking for an entity to help with emergency responses in the northern portion of the county.
At the public meeting yesterday, county officials say a lack of EMS personnel has led to slower response times to emergencies in rural parts of the county.
Commissioners approved an RFP that would bring in an organization to handle those responses. Emergency Services Director Steve Bicehouse says this entity would respond and assist at the scene until an ambulance could arrive.
He and the commissioners acknowledged that this is a stopgap, but believe it is a start in making sure public safety needs are met in the rural north.
The county would also use funds from the American Rescue Plan to pay for service.
