There will be a nationwide testing of the emergency alert system happening Wednesday.
This test will have two portions according to federal officials.
Starting around 2:20 p.m. today, your cell phone will receive a test message with the alert. Around the same time, radio and television stations will be sending out an alert as well.
FEMA and the FCC say the purpose of this test is to make sure that they have the proper systems in place in case of a nationwide emergency.
