A Butler couple was recognized for their efforts in helping restore the Penn Theater.
Bryan and Marina Frenchak were named as this year’s winner of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce Community Champion award.
The award comes almost a year after the Frenchaks made a significant investment to start a rehabilitation of the Penn Theater. It was a challenge that Bryan was happy to undertake.
“I started to look into it, and wondering what all the naysayers were saying about it,” Frenchak said. “That always triggers the other side of me, and I asked ‘why not?'”
The Frenchaks also announced that they are planning the grand opening of the Penn Theater for this upcoming New Year’s Eve. He says that right now the theater is about “80 to 90 percent done.”
“It’s vintage on the outside, but when you get inside it’ll be more contemporary or a different vibe,” Frenchak said of the theater’s redesign. “The dynamics will be totally different if we use the projection mapping and some other things we’re going to do, it’ll make it a destination spot.”
