The Slippery Rock University football team moved up one spot to the #5 ranking in Division II this week in the latest American Football Coaches top-25 poll after improving to 9-0 this season following their Saturday win over Clarion.
The Rock was given the #1-ranking in Super Region One among teams under consideration for a post-season spot in the NCAA Division II 28-team tournament that will begin November 18th. The Rock and Tiffin, who were given the #2 ranking, are the only undefeated teams in the region. Five teams from the PSAC are among the 10 teams in those Regional rankings. Seven teams will make the playoff tournament.
Rock quarterback Brayden Long earned his third PSAC offensive player of the week honor after leading SRU to a 42-14 victory over Clarion on Senior Day (see picture above) Saturday. Long threw four touchdowns and rushed for another in the victory as Slippery Rock improved to 9-0 this season.
The Grove City College football team are now ranked #20 in Division III after improving to 9-0 this week with their win over Bethany. The Wolverines complete their regular season Saturday, November 11th against Thiel in Greenville.
