Former Pirate Davalillo passes

Former Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Vic Davalillo has passed away at the age of 87. He spent 16 seasons in the major leagues and won World Series titles with the Bucs in 1971 and with the Oakland Athletics in 1973. He began his career as a minor league left-handed pitcher with the Cincinnati Reds but began to add outfield playing time. By 1962 he had won a Triple-A batting title with Cleveland. He won a Gold Glove in 1964 and was an All-Star in 1965 when he finished third in the American League batting race behing Tony Oliva and Carl Yastrzemski. Davalillo played for seven big league clubs through the 1980 season.
