A local institution of higher learning will be receiving state funding in order to reduce crime and assist victims.
The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency recently awarded $21,000 to Slippery Rock University.
The grant funding will allow university police to hire and train candidates in order to fill vacant law enforcement positions.
A total of 20 law enforcement agencies across the state will receive more than $1 million through this program but additional funding remains available for agencies who would like to apply.
