Samuel Anthony Muto Sr, 87, of Butler passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023. He was born in Karns City on June 9, 1936 to the late Samuel and Florence (Barone) Muto. After attending Butler High School Samuel joined the United States Navy at the age 17. After he served his country Honorably, he went on to work for PennDOT as an Assistant Superintendent for over 30 years until his retirement. He was also part owner of Sam & Alice’s Alexander’s Inn. Samuel loved to play golf where he had numerous holes in 1, baseball, softball, cards, also loved bowling where he had numerous 300 pin games, and duck pin bowling. He was a member of Italian Fraternal Society, Sons of Italy, American Legion, and the Elks. Samuel was the father of Dana (Dave) Lawson, Sam Muto Jr, Terri Shelton, Vicki (Jim) Brandt, and Micki (Dave) Kerner; brother of Francis Draper; grandfather of Heather (Joe) Reibel, Josh (Erin) Lawson, Ashley (Shawn) Nix, and April (Ryan) Crede. He is also survived by his in laws Roseann Muto and John O’Lenic, seven great grandchildren. Samuel was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia “Patty” (Stutz) Muto; siblings Angelo (Norma) Muto, Louise O’Lenic, Josephine (Dick) Gall, Robert Muto, Betty Muto; his brother in law Bill Draper; his son in law Murel “Sonny” Burrows, and his nephew Robert Muto. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, December 30, 2023 from noon till 1:30 PM in the SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD. BUTLER, PA. 16001.
