A Lawrence County woman is facing charges after killing a one-year-old girl by allegedly poisoning her.
Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry announced charges against 20-year-old Aleisia Owens in the death of her boyfriend’s one-year-old daughter.
In late June, emergency responders were called to a home in New Castle and once they arrived the child was unresponsive. After being transported, to the hospital the child died three days later.
An autopsy revealed high levels of acetone poisoning which caused organ failure.
Months before the baby’s death the child had ingested water beads, button shaped batteries, and a metal screw. Investigators also believe that Owens was researching online how much harm those items can do to children. Owens is accused of giving those items to the child.
She has been charged with homicide, aggravated assault of a child, endangering the welfare of a child, and more.
