George C. Marshall, Sr., of Penn Township, was born on May 30, 1932, and passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born in Penn Township on the farm with his parents, Clyde C. & Gertrude Cooper Marshall.
George worked for Herman Corporation of Zelienople for 34 years. Then worked for Monitor Labs for 22 years.
George was a member of Middlesex Presbyterian Church in America. George was a member of the Butler Moose Lodge #64. George was a life member of Breakneck Beagle Club. George was the secretary for the Union Steel Workers Association.
George was a passionate farmer & gardener with his dad, enjoyed working outdoors in the yard, working on his classic cars he treasured, and loved sharing his time with his family members.
Surviving, his wife, Shirley Ann Stewart Marshall, whom he married June 3, 1960; two sons, George C. (Debbie) Marshall, Jr. of Owensboro, KY and Timothy L. (Linda) Marshall of Chesapeake, VA; one granddaughter, Miriah A. Marshall; one grandson, Jeydan Marshall; four step-grandchildren, Shane, Casey, Lauren, and Josh; four step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Jane) Graham of Murrysville, PA and Mrs. Sinclair (Suzanne) Powell of Ann Arbor, MI; George was preceded in death by his brother, Charles C. Marshall and one sister, Margie Dionne.
Friends of George C. Marshall, Sr., who died Sunday, January 14, 2024, will be received on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001.
Funeral services will be held immediately after viewing at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Bowen, officiating.
George will be laid to rest at Butler County Memorial Park, 380 Evans City Road, Butler, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in George’s honor to Middlesex Presbyterian Church of America, 116 Church Rd., Butler, PA 16002.
