The next steps are being taken on the project to improve the Lyndora intersection near the Pullman Business Park in Butler Township.
Monday night the Township Commissioners awarded the Hansen Avenue, Whitestown Road, Armco Drive traffic project to Frank J Zottola Construction in the amount of just under $3.4 million.
Bids were opened last month with two received and Gateway Engineers recommended that the Township go with the local contractor on Route 8 South. Butler Township has received a $1.4 million grant from the state Commonwealth Financing Authority to help pay for this project and is looking into other opportunities for assistance.
This is a high intensity project and PennDOT will help to coordinate the work so that at least one lane of traffic will always be open.
The timeline for this process could see construction get underway sometime in March or April with an expected completion of around seven months later.
