The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection received a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to develop plans Pennsylvania can reduce emissions.
Late last week the DEP announced the $3 million grant for the commonwealth to develop a plan to reduce emissions in the industrial sector. According to the 2023 Pennsylvania Greenhouse Gas Inventory report the industrial sector is the highest greenhouse gas emitting sector.
Once the plan is complete Pennsylvania can apply for up to $500 million to execute the plan.
The DEP is looking for input from industry, academia, and community-based organizations on program design, size, scope, scale, potential outputs, and metrics, including emissions reductions and community benefits.
