The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is moving forward with plans that they say would help increase awareness about the sale of municipal water and sewer systems.
The proposals would “bolster the requirements for public meetings and hearings, require rate impact notices, and place more stringent standards on appraisals and valuations.”
Supporters of the move say that it will help ease the burden on customers after the sales close.
The PUC recently approved the sale of the Butler Area Sewer Authority to Pennsylvania American Water, although the sale is pending court review.
