Jackie Dewitt Kradel, 73, of Butler, passed away, Sunday February 4, 2024, at his home.
He was born on November 16, 1950, a son of the late Doris (Renick) Kradel and Loyal Adam Kradel.
He graduated from form Milton Hershey High School, class of 1968. He was a 4 year veteran of the United States Navy as a helicopter mechanic aboard the USS Biddle in Tonkan Bay during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge form the Navy he worked at the Armco Steel Plant (AK Steel) for 35 years in the cold mill riggers and transportation until he retired in 2008.
After retirement he worked as a janitor for Aramark for Slippery Rock School and Mars School District. He then began driving school bus for STA for the Slippery Rock School District for 12 years til the present.
He loved meeting new people, groundhog hunting and helping on his sons-in-law’s farms.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Joan (Rodgers) Kradel, who he would have been married to for 50 years on April 19, 2024.
2 daughters: Michele (Monte) Bostic of Virginia and Amy (Kip) Boggs of Greensburg.
4 grandchildren: Aiden Jones; Noah, Molly and Levi Boggs.
3 brothers: Robert (Tammy) Kradel of West Sunbury, Ronald (Yvonne) Kradel of Florida and Donald (Jane) Kradel of Portersville.
1 sister, Cheryl (Cliff) Anderson.
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, also in-laws from the Rodgers family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Gary.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 1-3 and 5-7 pm on Wednesday. A Blessing Service will be held on Thursday at the Funeral Home, at 11:00 am.
