Steve “Mick” M. Nemcek, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the age of 77 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Mick was born in Butler to Steve A. and Rose (Sychak) Nemcek on September 17, 1946. He met his wife, Dianne Gurner, in Butler in 1978. They married in 1979, and their marriage of 45 years set an example of love, support and deep kindness.
Mick worked as an electrician for most of his life, however anyone that knew him knows that his passion was the outdoors. Mick enjoyed hunting, fishing, mountain biking, nature photography, and even just a calm hike in the woods which was always his oasis. It was this love of nature that drew him to his God, Jehovah. Romans 1:20 says, “For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable.” This is truly how Mick felt. He wanted to know more about the God that made everything that he respected so much.
Mick was a student of the Bible and one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He served for many years as an elder in his local congregation.
In addition to his wife, Dianne, Mick is survived by his son, Michael (Annette) Nemcek and his daughter, Angela (Eric) Mangone. His children were his joys in life, and who he was as a father is something that his family will always cherish.
Mick is also survived by his brother and friend, Donald (Barbara) Nemcek.
Mick was a rock for many, always being a great source of comfort, support, advice and stability.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Butler VA Community Living Center for all of the care and attention that they provided during this difficult time.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 3:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses: 157 Unionville Rd, Butler PA 16001. Please contact the family for Zoom information. Arrangements completed by the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham St. Butler, PA.
