The public is invited to get a closer look at unique local history later this week in southern Butler County.
The Harmony Museum is celebrating 219 years since the founding of the Harmony Society with a free open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday.
Those interested in attending this free event can learn about how a group of German immigrants created a communal society in the wilderness of western Pennsylvania in 1805.
In addition to a stop at the Harmony Museum, visitors can shop at a variety of local businesses in Harmony using free walking tour maps available at the museum. More information is available on the museum’s website.
