Slippery Rock University has received its largest-ever planned estate gift that will be donated to those seeking an education degree.
Judy Phillips and her husband Dave are committing a $2 million gift to ensure long-term support for the RockTEACH program, which helps promote teaching careers for Black, Indigenous, or people of color.
The Phillips previously donated $100,000 to help establish the program in 2018.
In their donation, the Phillips say that minority teachers are underrepresented in education and that this will help recruit aspiring teachers to get into the field.
