A woman was seriously injured and taken to the hospital after a bear attack Tuesday night.
It happened in Butler Township around 8:30 p.m. on Bellfield Drive, which is in the Bon Aire neighborhood.
A 55-year-old woman was with her dog, when a bear and her three cubs started interacting with the dog. That’s when the woman got involved and was attacked by the bear.
A police officer that lived nearby responded to the scene, and called for additional police and the Game Commission. Police arrived on scene and found bear and cubs in a nearby tree. Police say the mother bear continued to be aggressive and was ultimately euthanized by the game commission. The three cubs were tranquilized and released in an unknown location.
The woman was bitten on the back of the head, face, neck and arms. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and her injuries are considered non-life threatening.
There is no update on her condition.
