Independence Health System is joining with other hospitals in Western Pennsylvania in suing an insurance company for breach of contract.
Bridges Health Partners, which is a non-profit consortium that represents healthcare systems and doctors, filed the suit against Aetna Network Services this week.
The suit alleges Aetna is hiding extra costs into their agreement to boost enrollment plans. The costs included marketing expenses like gift cards, meals, and gym memberships for patients.
The suit is seeking a declaratory judgment and for Aetna to abide by the contract agreement.
