Frederick “Fred” E. Honzo

Frederick “Fred” E. Honzo, 86, of Saxonburg passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024. He was born in Butler on May 17, 1938 to the late Joseph and Mary (Uhric) Honzo. Fred was known for his jovial nature and loved his pets, Uhric family reunions and vacations with his family to Myrtle Beach. He enjoyed watching baseball and hockey; especially his sons IUP college team. Fred was an avid golfer and loved riding his Harley. He listened to Polka every Sunday and was very proud of his Slovak heritage. Fred was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church parish in Cabot, PA. And proudly donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Fred was the beloved husband of late Marie Honzo, who was the love of his life; they were happily married for 64 years until her passing, less than 48 hours after his, on June 18, 2024; father of Joe (Lee Ann) Honzo and Lisa (Jason) Lassiter; grandfather of Kyle (Raelene) Honzo, Courtney Honzo, Ty (Shayna) Honzo, Alaina Antanaitis and Hope Lassiter; great grandfather of Ava Brumbaugh and Jordan Honzo. Along with his parents and wife, Fred was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Honzo and brother, Robert Honzo. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 2, 2024 in St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joesph R.C. Church of Cabot.
