Western Pa golfer in the hunt at PGA Tour stop in Detroit

Mt. Lebanon resident and Central Catholic high school graduate Neal Shipley is two strokes off the lead at his first PGA TOur event as a pro. He started the day at 2-over par on his first nine holes of the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic on Thursday in Detroit. But then Shipley went on a run with five consecutive birdies. He finished the opening round with a 5-under 67, three shots behind leader Akshay Bhatia.
